About jess adams design

Jess Adams Design is a handmade jewellery, accessories and homeware brand based in Reading, England.

After graduating from Winchester School of Art in 2018 with a degree in Fashion & Textiles, Jess began by selling her designs on Etsy and Jess Adams Design was established. After opening a few online marketplaces over the first two years, Jess finally launched her own website in July 2020.

Jess primarily uses resin, polymer clay and laser cut acrylic to create her unique pieces. Each product is handcrafted by Jess, from the initial sketch to polishing the finished shapes. Most of Jess’ silicone molds that she uses for resin are created entirely by her as she designs the acrylic pieces which she then uses as a base for the mold.

Jess always has her eye on current trends and uses them for inspiration to create her contemporary pieces. New collections are released on Jess Adams Design each season, with other products being designed and added when inspiration hits!

As well as the main product range, Jess also completes freelance and custom work. She also sells her products wholesale to retailers across the UK.

ABOUT JESS

Hiya! I’m Jess and everything you see on Jess Adams Design was designed and handmade by me! I’m 28 and I live in Reading with my ragdoll cat Periwinkle. I work part time in a theatre and also suffer with the chronic illness Fibromyalgia.

I’ve always had a passion for art, it was always my favourite subject in school and I had dreams of growing up to be a portrait painter.

After finising my A Levels I went on to do an art foundation course before I went to university. After quickly realising that portrait painting wasn’t the most realistic career choice, I then discovered that I was far more interested in exploring Fashion than I was Fine Art.

I studied Fashion and Textiles at uni and specialised in Knitwear for Fashion. For my final major project I designed a 6 outfit fashion collection with accessories to go with it, and it was during this that I discovered my love for jewellery design.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia at university. It’s a chronic illness that causes pain all over the body and extreme fatigue. I have suffered with it since I was 16 and I finally had answers to a lot of my unexplained health problems.

After I graduated I sort of panicked and took the first full time job that was offered to me - Administrative Assistant at a Property Management company. I sold my graduate collection designs on Etsy at the same time and I knew very quickly that I wanted to pursue doing that as more than just a ‘side hustle’.

I worked at my full time office job for 3 months before it began to take too much of a toll on my body. By this time it was Christmas season so I decided to leave my job, rest up at home and focus on my Etsy shop. Fast foward to the following year and I didn’t need to look for another full time job!

I still have a part time job at my local theatre where I’ve worked since I was 18. I absolutely adore it there and although running my business is a dream come true it can get quite lonely, so the part time work provides some much needed social interaction!
